University of North Alabama Recognizes Outstanding Alums at Homecoming

FLORENCE, Ala. – The University of North Alabama celebrated homecoming Saturday by beating Shorter University 45-0, and by welcoming back alumni for the annual Alumni Awards Banquet.
Winners for various alumni awards were announced, along with the Alumni of the Year Award, the highest honor granted to graduates of UNA, going to Joan Mollohan (’76) and Graham Sisson (’87).
Mollohan previously served as a human resources senior executive in New Orleans. In 2007, she was named as one of the Top 50 Women of the Year in New Orleans, and in 2011 she was named as one of the 10 Most Powerful and Influential Women in Louisiana by the National Diversity Council.
When she began her executive HR career at Ochsner Health System, they had one hospital and 4,000 employees; when she retired, they had 10 hospitals and 15,000 employees. During the national American crisis of Hurricane Katrina, Mollohan moved into her office at Ochsner Hospital and worked 24 hours a day to provide services to keep the hospital operating.
During her time at UNA, Mollohan was a charter member and pledge of Zeta Tau Alpha. She retired in 2014 and currently serves as the Board Chair of Girl Scouts Louisiana East.
Graham Sisson graduated from UNA summa cum laude in 1987, with a B.S. in Accounting and minors in English and History. He received the Keller Key (highest GPA) and Turris Fidelis key upon his graduation. During his time at UNA, Sisson was a member of Alpha Tau Omega and also served as SGA President.
After his graduation from UNA, Sisson attended Vanderbilt Law School and graduated in 1990. He was eventually appointed as deputy attorney general and an assistant attorney general with the State of Alabama. He now serves as the State’s ADA Coordinator and Assistant Attorney General with the Alabama Department of Rehabilitation Services. He was reappointed by Gov. Robert Bentley as the Director of the Governor’s Office on Disability and State ADA Coordinator.
Sisson also serves as an adjunct law professor, teaching a disability law course at the Birmingham School of Law; he teaches a doctoral course in disability law and history at Auburn University. Sisson is a doctoral candidate in rehabilitation at Auburn University.
