FLORENCE, Ala. – Official enrollment numbers are in and the University of North Alabama has the second largest fall enrollment in the School’s 187-year history.

This year’s total fall enrollment is 7,457, which translates to an enrollment increase of over seven percent over the last five years.

In addition, UNA also welcomed the third highest freshman cohort, with 1,108 students on campus this fall.  Graduate enrollment at 1,236 is also the third highest in school history, and represents a 31.8 percent increase over the last five years.

“We’re excited to see that we’re still growing,” said Ron Patterson, UNA’s chief enrollment officer.  “It’s always tough to top an enrollment record like we had last year, but to have the second highest fall enrollment in the school’s history a year after…I mean I couldn’t be happier with our faculty and staff!  This institution is amazing and it’s clear that message is being heard,” he said.

The increases, however, are not only related to enrollment numbers, officials say retention rates are up as well.  Retention rates from fall 2016 to fall 2017 rose to 75.8 percent, up from the 75.1 percent from fall 2015 to fall 2016.

UNA has also seen an increase in the school’s 6-year graduation rate.  The rate increased to 44.5 percent for the fall 2011 freshman cohort, which is up one percentage point from the 43.5 percent for the fall 2010 freshman cohort.
