Shoals Symphony Celebrates Halloween with Costumes and Creepy Classics

FLORENCE, Ala. – For the second concert of the 2017-2018 season, the Shoals Symphony at UNA will offer a family-friendly Halloween themed program for the Shoals community.
The concert, “Tomb it May Concern,” will feature classical, spooky favorites including “Hall of the Mountain King” by Edvard Grieg and Danse Macabre by Camille Saint-Saëns performed by a costumed Shoals Symphony Sunday, Oct. 29, at 3:00 p.m., at Norton Auditorium.
Dr. Daniel Stevens, Shoals Symphony at UNA conductor stated, “We want this to be a fun concert where you can bring the entire family, have a chance to wear your best costume, and get into the Halloween spirit.”
All children that arrive in costume will be entered into a drawing for a great prize at the end of the show. In addition to providing a wonderfully ghoulish soundtrack to the afternoon, members of the symphony will be facilitating an Instrument Petting Zoo following their performance.
“An instrument petting zoo allows kids of all ages to try standard instruments of the orchestra,” said Stevens. “Families can travel from station to station, trying out flutes, clarinets, trumpets, trombones, drums, wind chimes and string instruments. This is a great opportunity for children who don’t typically have access to musical instruments to crash cymbals or blow through a horn.”
Tickets are $16-$24 for adults, $8 for children (17 and under) and are available at shoalssymphony.una.edu, the Lindsey Theater Box Office (M, W, F, 10 a.m.–Noon), and at the door.
Student tickets are $8 and available at the door with a valid student ID.
