Drive-By Truckers Film to Screen at George Lindsey UNA Film Festival

Jan. 25, 2011

FLORENCE, Ala. – Barr Weissman’s “The Secret to a Happy Ending,” the acclaimed rock documentary about The Drive-By Truckers, is scheduled to screen at the George Lindsey UNA Film Festival March 3 at 9 p.m. at the Zodiac Theatre in downtown Florence.

Five years in the making, “The Secret to a Happy Ending” follows sons of the Shoals Patterson Hood and Jason Isbell and other Drive-By Trucker band members through concerts, recording sessions and successes and struggles that include Isbell’s departure from the band in 2007.

What began as a labor of love for a Drive-By Trucker’s fan, Weissman’s film has screened for full houses throughout the U.S. and in Europe since it premiered in early 2010.

The 14th annual George Lindsey UNA Film Festival will be held March 3-5. It is one of the few film festivals hosted by a university. The event was founded in 1998 in part by UNA alumnus and celebrated actor and entertainer George Lindsey. Lindsey’s own film career has included several important roles, including the character Goober Pyle on “The Andy Griffith Show.”
