Apr. 24, 2009

FLORENCE, Ala. – The University of North Alabama is hosting community-wide auditions for its 2009 Summer Theatre production of Peter Shaffer’s Tony- and Oscar-winning play “Amadeus.” Auditions will be held from 2 to 5 p.m. May 9 in Norton Auditorium.

Casting for “Amadeus” requires a number of male roles, ages 20 and up, as well as three female roles, also ages 20 and up. Sides from the script will be available for auditions.

The production will begin rehearsals in mid June and will perform July 16-18 in Norton Auditorium. “Amadeus” will open the 2009 Summer Theatre Program.

The production will be directed by Florence native Will Stutts. Stutts, a graduate of UNA and the Yale University School of Drama, has had a distinguished career in theatre, including several Broadway productions and more work in the genre of the one-man play than almost any other actor.
