FLORENCE, Ala. – Officials with the University of North Alabama Foundation held their bi-annual President’s Cabinet meeting this week to honor the donors that help support UNA. The night’s events consisted of a brief meeting followed by a dinner and then guests were treated to a tour of the new Science and Technology building on campus. Members of the President’s Cabinet give at least $1,000 to UNA’s 1830 fund on an annual basis.
The Science and Technology building was of course a highlight of the evening, but perhaps the most important announcement was when Dr. Donald and Laura Harrison of Cincinnati, Ohio, were announced as the campaign Co-chairs for UNA’s “Build the Pride” campaign. In addition to being Campaign co-chairs, the Harrison’s pledged a significant gift toward the construction of a new nursing building which will be one of the University’s main campaign goals.
Past funds provided by the Harrison’s have supported the beautiful Harrison Fountain in the Laura M. Harrison Plaza at the center of UNA’s campus, the Laura M. Harrison Professor of English Endowment and the Laura M. Harrison Scholarship Fund. Laura Harrison is a 1955 graduate of UNA and was the recipient of the highly prestigious Keller Key. Dr. Donald Harrison is a cardiologist in Cincinnati. He received a B.S. in Chemistry from Birmingham Southern College and an M.D. from the University of Alabama at Birmingham.
