FLORENCE, Ala. – The University of North Alabama Opera/Musical Theatre ensemble will present Mozart's classic opera “The Magic Flute” on Friday, April 17, at 7:30 p.m., and Sunday, April 19, at 2 p.m., in Norton Auditorium on the UNA campus.

“This will be the largest show UNA Opera has ever mounted and we are thrilled to present this all-star cast to the public,” said Dr. Terrance Brown, director of vocal studies and opera/musical theatre at UNA.

This will also be the first UNA Opera production to feature an orchestra.

“The addition of live music provides more harmonic texture to the music and more vibrant colors to the listener,” said Brown. “It makes the opera more true to what the composer intended it to be.”

The opera, which will be in English, promises to be a fun, family-friendly production.

“’The Magic Flute’ is a great introduction to opera and not what people might expect,” said Dr. Tiffany Bostic-Brown, UNA voice faculty and opera production and stage manager. “Our production is very bright in color and character, almost like a Disney movie Mozart style!”

Tickets are $10 for adults and $5 for children and students, and are available online at una.edu/music-theatre, at Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts and at the door.
