In preparation for their tour of Italy in May, the UNA Chamber Choir will present a “Tour of Italy” fundraising concert on Tuesday, April 21, at 7:30 p.m.

“The concert will be a recap of the things audiences might expect to hear if they were on tour with us,” said Dr. Ian Loeppky, director of choral activities at UNA, “including two masses we will sing at the basilicas at both Assisi and at the Vatican, and our secular selections. The latter is weighed heavily to things American, as that is what Italian audiences want to hear!”

The 30-member Chamber Choir, who traveled international in 2009 (Italy), 2011 (Costa Rica) and 2013 (Ireland), will tour Italy May 10-17.

Loeppky stressed the importance of study abroad experiences for the students and the university.

“Not only does the university gain a reputation as an institution that offers enriching educational experiences, but these trips result in better, more enlightened students, which has a positive effect on their progress in other classes,” he said.

The concert will be held at Grace Episcopal Church, 103 Darby Avenue, Sheffield, Alabama. Tickets are $10 in advance and $12 at the door. Advance tickets may be purchased from individual Chamber Choir students.
