The Magellan Exchange offers opportunities to study abroad for a semester or an academic year, as well as offers some summer and short-term programs. Bachelor and master level students are welcome to participate. Program options and academic calendars vary by location.

Program options and academic calendars vary by location. Tuition and fees will be paid at UNA. Room and board will typically be less than you would pay for a dorm at UNA.

ZIMBABWE Study Abroad

Come and study in Zimbabwe with the College of Education and Human Sciences next Summer! All Elementary and Secondary Education majors are welcome to join and will receive potentially 6 credit hours towards his/her degree.

CHINA Study Abroad

NURSING AND HEALTHCARE

Program Site: Tianjin, China; Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine  

                     Florence, Alabama; University of North Alabama

Program Dates: May 11- June 1, 2018

Program Cost (Estimated): $3,500 (-Scholarship) = < $1,800

The estimated cost covers UNA tuition (1 credit), room and board, airfare, field trips, visa fee, and travel insurance. (Additional cost for 3 hr. course)

Program Description: The purpose of this program is to provide UNA students with a unique  opportunity to study 1) Chinese language and culture, 2) basic instruction of traditional Chinese medicine, 3) Chinese perspectives of nursing and health care, and 4) introduction of Qigong and tai-chi exercise.

During the intense 3-week living and studying in China, you will acquire first-hand knowledge and experience about China, Chinese people, Chinese culture, and Chinese traditional medicine practices and healthcare systems.  You will gain an experiential insight that you can draw upon for the rest of your life; an insight you would not likely gain otherwise. The program will include a two-day field trip to Beijing, the Capital City of China, including visits to the Great Wall, the Forbidden City, and Tiananmen Square. 

Academic Credits: Students may earn 1-3 credits which will be counted as electives with prior approval of his/her faculty advisor:

NU 499SA (1-3): Healthcare Systems and Nursing in Other Countries

Eligibility: All UNA students (freshmen, sophomores, juniors, seniors, and graduate students) with one full-time semester at UNA and a 2.5 GPA may apply. 

Host University: Tianjin University of Traditional Chinese Medicine and University North Alabama
