Mathematics Learning Center FAQs
When is the Mathematics Learning Center open?
Individual tutoring sessions with Mathematics Consultants are held in the Mathematics Learning Center (The Commons, Room 216). Appointments may be made on weekdays between the hours of 10:00 a.m. and 8:00 p.m. and on Saturdays from 10:00 until noon. Appointments are not required but are highly recommended, so that you will be guaranteed time to meet with someone who is prepared and qualified to help with your particular math course.
When should I come in?
You should check in with a University Success Center receptionist on the 2nd floor of the Commons a few minutes before your scheduled appointment time. If no one is present at the reception desk, then your Mathematics Consultant can check you in (Room 216) at the beginning of your appointment.
Mathematics is a skill like any other and must be practiced; therefore we recommend that you do NOT wait until the last minute to schedule an appointment. Take advantage of this free service that can be an invaluable part of your UNA experience.
What do I need to bring with me when I come?
You should come prepared with the same items you need for your mathematics class: pencil, paper, notes from class, textbook (or MML login information), and calculator.
Do I need to have an appointment?
Appointments are not required but are highly recommended, so that you will be guaranteed time to meet with someone who is prepared and qualified to help with your particular math course. To schedule a 30-minute appointment in the MLC, you may use the TutorTrac scheduling system at http://tutortrac.una.edu or by calling the University Success Center (256) 765-4722.
How much does it cost?
All Mathematics Learning Center services are free to currently enrolled students of UNA.
Who should I ask for when I go to the Mathematics Learning Center?
When you make an appointment with the MLC, you will be able to choose the consultant who is available during the best time for you. You will meet your individual consultant in the Mathematics Learning Center (the Commons, Room 216). You can find out more about the consultants on the MLC Consultants page.
How will my professor know that I visited the Mathematics Learning Center?
When you have completed your session with your consultant, a report will be sent electronically to your professor.
