Academic Warning

Students with a GPA of less than 1.60 who have attempted less than 18 semester hours of coursework are placed on Academic Warning.  Students who do not reach the minimum cumulative GPA based on hours earned will be placed on Academic Probation.

Students on Academic Warning are required to attend a workshop which gives them information about academic status at UNA, Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP), the Repeat/Recompute policy, student resources on campus, and ways to avoid probationary status.

Because students’ needs are varied and the reasons they are on Academic Warning are often very personal, additional one-on-one meetings with the Intervention Specialist in our office provide students with individualized attention to their particular academic situation.  Students who fail to attend a workshop or meet individually with the Intervention Specialist will have a Hold placed on their registration for the upcoming semester by our office.  Students who schedule and keep an appointment with the Intervention Specialist will have this Hold released, and they will be allowed to pre-register or register for classes.
