Alabama geographic alliance
The Alabama Geographic Alliance (AGA) is a non-profit education organization. The AGA is a network of university faculty, K–12 teachers, academic administrators, and professional geographers. AGA provides professional development, curriculum materials, and networking for its members and Alabama school districts. The mission of the AGA is to improve the stature of geography in the state through curriculum development and teacher training to enhance geographic literacy. The AGA is housed in the Department of Geography at UNA.
UPCOMING OPPORTUNITIES
Alliance Summer Institute - (Location: University of North Alabama in Florence)
The institute is an intensive, five day program designed to increase teachers' knowledge of geography, earth science and social studies. Teachers will be introduced to current topics relevant to the Alabama Social Studies and Science Courses of Study. Content will be delivered by geographers and other scientists while innovative teaching strategies will be introduced by experienced teacher-mentors. Download an application.
