Honor Society
Alpha Epsilon Rho– Alpha Epsilon Rho is the National Honorary Broadcasting Society. The society promotes the advancement of broadcasting education, establishes meaningful communication between students and professional broadcasters, and encourages and rewards scholarship and accomplishment among broadcasting students and high level accomplishments in the art and science of broadcasting by both student and industry professionals The society also fosters integrity in the use of the powerful instruments of radio, television, and film. Student membership is limited to undergraduate and graduate broadcasting majors and minors currently enrolled at UNA. Professional membership is limited to non-students who are former members of a collegiate chapter, professional broadcasters of the community, or broadcast educators of the community.
Alpha Lambda Delta – Focusing on superior scholastic achievement of first year students, Alpha Lambda Delta promotes intelligent living by developing high standards of learning. Full-time students who attain a 3.5 grade point average during their freshman year are invited to become members.
Alpha Phi Sigma – Alpha Phi Sigma is the nationally recognized honor society for students in the criminal justice sciences. The society recognized academic excellence by undergraduates as well as graduate students of criminal justice. To become a member, the student must have completed one-third of their total hours required for graduation at his or her institution and be recommended by the local advisor or faculty member. Undergraduates must maintain a 3.0 overall GPA and a 3.2 GPA in their criminal justice courses (the student must have completed a minimum of four courses within the criminal justice curriculum). Honorary membership also is open to those with a declared criminal justice major or minor. Graduate students are required to maintain a 3.4 GPA in all courses.
Alpha Kappa Delta – Juniors and seniors majoring or minoring in sociology or criminal justice who have a cumulative grade point average of 3.0 or above are initiated each semester into Alpha Kappa Delta. The organization seeks to promote understanding of social problems and improvement in the human condition. Dr. Thomas Kersen is the advisor.
Alpha Psi Omega – Students who do outstanding work in University theatre productions and are of satisfactory scholarship may be invited into the national honorary dramatic society, Alpha Psi Omega Fraternity. The students provide service to the University theatre program and assist with audience and educational outreach throughout the local community.
Beta Beta Beta – The purpose of Tri Beta is to promote scholarship and knowledge, and to encourage research in the biological sciences. Regular membership is by invitation. Scholarships are available to Beta Beta Beta members.
Chi Sigma Iota – The Upsilon Nu Alpha Chapter of Chi Sigma Iota honors those who excel in the field of counseling, whether it be academic or professional. The society promotes scholarship, research, and professionalism while recognizing the pursuit of academic and clinical excellence.
Delta Epsilon Iota – The purpose of this organization is to embody the philosophy and ideals of the Society at the local level. Delta Epsilon Iota strives to be an effective, contributing organization by providing its members with programs and activities that promote academic achievement, career development education, and campus involvement. www.una.edu/career/DEI.html
Gamma Beta Phi – Gamma Beta Phi recognizes and encourages excellence in education while promoting the development of leadership abilities and character in its members. The organization fosters, disseminates, and tries to improve education through appropriate service projects. Membership is by invitation and is extended to the top 20% of each class. Gamma Beta Phi is coeducational and all majors are invited.
Gamma Theta Upsilon (Geography) - The promotion of education and knowledge of geographical surroundings is the purpose of Gamma Theta Upsilon. In order to be initiated, students must have at least a B average and have completed a minimum of three courses in geography. Students must rank in the upper 35 percent of their class and have completed at least three semesters of classes.
Kappa Delta Pi – Excellence and outstanding contributions to education are addressed by membership in Kappa Delta Pi. Membership is available to juniors majoring in education.
Kappa Pi – Kappa Pi is an International Art Fraternity based on academic achievement and artistic excellence. Founded in 1911 at the University of Kentucky, Kappa Pi recognizes students who demonstrate outstanding academic achievement and also possess excellent studio art skills. As an organization, Kappa Pi supports the arts within schools and the community and seeks to promote a deeper appreciation of the arts among the public.

Omicron Nu – Kappa Omicron furthers the best
interests of Home Economics by recognizing and encouraging
scholastic excellence, developing leadership abilities, fostering
professional activities and interests, and promoting fellowsship
among students and faculty of the profession.
Lambda Pi Eta - The purposes of Lambda Pi Eta
is: to recognize, foster and reward outstanding scholastic
achievement in communication studies; to stimulate interest
in the field of communication; to promote and encourage
professional development among communication majors; to
provide an opportunity to discuss and exchange ideas in the
field of communication; to establish and maintain close
relationships and mutual understandings between
communication studies faculty and students; and to explore
options for graduate education in communication studies.
Omicron Delta Kappa – The purpose of Omicron Delta Kappa is three-fold. First, ODK recognizes those students who have attained a high standard in scholarship and college activities. Second, it brings together the most representative students in all phases of college life, thus creating an organization to help mold the sentiment of the institution on questions of intercollegiate interest. Third, ODK brings together members of the faculty, staff, and student body on a basis of mutual interest.
Phi Beta Delta – The primary objective of Phi Beta Delta is to recognize achievement in international education interchange, and in doing so, to serve as a catalyst to increase the recognition, credibility, and importance of the international experience; to develop a network of individuals (students, faculty, and staff) involved in the international experience; and to create a catalyst for international acedemic-based programming on campus.
Phi Eta Sigma – Recognition and encouragement of outstanding freshman scholarship is addressed by Phi Eta Sigma. Membership is by invitation to students who earn a 3.50 average during their first term, or a cumulative 3.50 during their freshman year.
Phi Kappa Phi – Juniors, seniors, graduate students, faculty and alumni may be elected into Phi Kappa Phi. The organization recognizes excellence in all academic disciplines. The Honor Society requires students to be of good character and have outstanding scholarship (juniors must be in the top 7.5%, seniors must be in the top 10%, and graduates must be in the top 10% of their class). An active core group of faculty and staff provides continuity and conducts initiations in spring and fall.
Phi Theta Kappa – The purposes of Phi Theta Kappa are to provide a continuing fellowship of Phi Theta Kappa members; help transfer students become accustomed to the senior institution and the life it affords; and recognize and encourage scholarship and leadership among Phi Theta Kappa members www.ptk.org www.alptk.com
Pi Sigma Alpha – Pi Sigma Alpha is an honor society dedicated to the field of Political Science. It is a professional goal of this chapter to recognize superior scholastic ability in the field of political science at UNA and to ensure that those possessing these qualifications will be afforded the opportunity to become an integral part of this chapter through the continuation of excellent scholarship.

Tau Beta Sigma – Tau Beta Sigma is the band honorary sorority. It works hard to further the band program, concentrating in the areas of service, fostering close friendships, and pursuit of excellence in performance of good music and exposure to the musical arts.
