‘Back to the Future’ Writer/Producer, 'Spider-Man' Comic Writer to Sign Autographs March 5

FLORENCE, Ala. – While “Back to the Future” co-writer and producer Bob Gale continues to work on film projects, he is also staying busy these days as a comic writer. While in the Shoals next month for the George Lindsey UNA Film Festival’s 25th anniversary “Back to the Future” reunion, Gale will make a stop at the House of Heroes comics store for an autograph session. The autograph session is scheduled for 4-5 p.m. March 5. House of Heroes, which carries new and vintage comics, toys and T-shirts, is located at 110 E. Mobile Street in downtown Florence.

Gale’s comic credits include long story arcs for “Batman” and “Daredevil.” As a member of Marvel’s Spider-Man Brain Trust, he is also a major contributor to the Spider-Man franchise. Gale wrote six issues of “The Amazing Spider-Man” is 2008 and, most recently, wrote a “Spider-Man” digital comics series for Marvel.com.

Gale’s appearances in the Shoals are part of the George Lindsey UNA Film Festival, which is one of the few film festivals hosted by a university. The event was founded in 1998 in part by UNA alumnus and celebrated actor and entertainer George Lindsey. Lindsey’s own film career has included several important roles, including the character Goober Pyle on “The Andy Griffith Show.”
