ABET Program Objectives:

The program educational objectives of UNA’s Engineering Technology program are to produce alumni who:

  1.  Successfully apply Engineering Technology practices;
  2.  Exhibit strong teamwork and ethical behavior;
  3.  Broaden their skills with continual applied learning; and
  4.  Become valuable contributors to their organizations.

ABET Student Outcomes:

Student Outcomes

(1)  an ability to apply knowledge, techniques, skills and modern tools of mathematics, science, engineering, and technology to solve broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline;

(2)  an ability to design systems, components, or processes meeting specified needs for broadly-defined engineering problems appropriate to the discipline;

(3)  an ability to apply written, oral, and graphical communication in broadly-defined technical and non-technical environments; and an ability to identify and use appropriate technical literature;

(4)  an ability to conduct standard tests, measurements, and experiments and to analyze and interpret the results to improve processes; and

(5)  an ability to function effectively as a member as well as a leader on technical teams.

(6)  an understanding of the need for and an ability to engage in self-directed continuing professional development;

(7)  an understanding of and a commitment to address professional and ethical responsibilities including a respect for diversity;

(8)  a knowledge of the impact of engineering technology solutions in a societal and global context; and

(9)  a commitment to quality, timeliness, and continuous improvement.
