Terri L. Garrison
Assistant Professor, Early Childhood Education
Bio
Dr. Terri Garrison has taught preschool, PreK, and kindergarten as well as serving as a center director of a faith-based preschool and childcare program for 12 years. She holds a bachelors and masters
degree in early childhood education, and a PhD in early childhood education with an emphasis in
family engagement. During her career as a teacher, supporting the child's development through a play-based environment and family participation has always been an important aspect of her classroom community. As a center director working closely with families of young children, she became interested in supporting strong family
development which in turn supports the developing child. This led to her research focus on family engagement.
Dr. Garrison has been married to her high school sweetheart since 1982 and enjoys spending time with her family especially her grandchildren.
