Bio:

It is not an exaggeration to say that education has been my life. I have been teaching in some form or fashion for the last thirty years. Working with students is so exciting that I look forward to going to school every day. Teaching at Kilby is literally a dream come true. In 2002, as a graduate student at UNA, one of my professors said that only master teachers work at Kilby. In the back of my mind I thought, I want to work at Kilby one day. Happily, this will be my fourth year as the special education and gifted specialist at Kilby. For all my students I strive to differentiate the curriculum, promote critical thinking skills, and prepare students for a global world.

On a personal note, I am married to David McKelvey and we have three children. My two daughters are also teachers and my son is a freshman at UNA. In addition, we have two Brittany spaniel dogs, Dixie and Dan. In my free time, I like to read, work in the yard and sew.
