Evan Thornton graduated from Jacksonville State University in 1997, where he majored in Accounting.  He started his career in public accounting and obtained his CPA while working with local businesses and government agencies.  In 2005 he accepted the position of Financial Administrator for the City of Athens.  This position was created to oversee the financial operations of the City and manage the financial reporting consolidation of its component units including utilities and school system.  Evan transitioned to Athens State University in 2010 holding the position of Business Manager before joining the University of North Alabama in 2015 as Controller.  He is currently the Vice President for Business and Financial Affairs for the University of North Alabama.
