Nancy (Meeks) Sanford, graduated from University of North Alabama in 1978 with a degree in communications.  She has been serving as the Executive Director of the Florence-Lauderdale Public Library since 2004.  Her prior work experience includes Community Education Coordinator and teacher for Sheffield City Schools, directing the community relations and marketing group for Helen Keller Hospital, and Admissions Counselor at the University of North Alabama.  

Nancy is a 1993 graduate of Leadership Shoals, a 2007 graduate of Leadership Alabama, a member of the SunTrust Bank Board of Directors, the Sheffield Rotary Club (past chair) and a Paul Harris Fellow.  She was named Sheffield Citizen of the Year in 1993.   Her community service work has included volunteering with the Colbert County Red Cross (past chair), Tennessee Valley Art Center (past chair), the Music Preservation Society, the YMCA of the Shoals, the Shoals branch of the Association of University Women (past chair), the Inter-Faith Council of the Shoals, and the Shoals Chamber of Commerce.  Nancy will complete two terms on the Alabama Humanities Foundation (past chair) in 2016.
