Nelda Cambron-McCabe '69

Nelda Cambron-McCabe is Professor Emeritus, Miami University, Ohio. She earned her M.Ed. and Ph.D. from the University of Florida and her B.S. from the University of North Alabama. During her 35 years at Miami University (Ohio), she taught numerous courses in educational law, leadership, and organizational theory; she served both as Department Chair of Educational Psychology and Educational Leadership. She was an advisory board member and a coordinator of both the Danforth Foundation’s Forum for the American School Superintendent and the National Superintendents Roundtable. The seventh edi¬tion of Public School Law: Teachers’ and Students’ Rights, which she coauthored, was published April 2013. She is also a coauthor of The Superintendents Fieldbook, (1st ed., 2005; 2nd ed., 2013) with Harvey, Cunningham and Koff and Schools That Learn (1st ed., 2000; 2nd ed., 2012) with Senge, Lucas, Smith, Dutton and Kleiner. She holds a number of honors including the Benjamin Harrison Medallion Award, the highest honor Miami University bestows on a faculty member; the Richard T. Delp Outstanding Faculty Award, presented by the School of Education, Miami University; and the Marion A. McGhehey Award, the highest honor of the Education Law Association. In 2009, she received recognition as Educator of the Year by the UNA National Alumni Association. In 2017, she was given a lifetime achievement award by the National Superintendents Roundtable, noting her advocacy for school leaders and her staunch friendship of public education in the United States.
