Sharon Harris '83
Sharon Harris graduated from the University of North Alabama in 1983 with a Bachelor of Science in nursing. Her nursing career has included work in intensive care, in-school nursing, nursing education, and wound, ostomy, and continence care. In 2006 Mrs. Harris studied for her certification in wound, ostomy, and continence nursing through Emory University’s post-baccalaureate program. She returned to Eliza Coffee Memorial Hospital in Florence, Alabama as a wound, ostomy, and continence nurse, holding certifications in nursing staff development, wound care, ostomy care, and continence care. Her community work has primarily focused on organizations spearheading efforts to enhance end-of-life care, prevent human trafficking, and address substance abuse issues.
Sharon and her husband are committed to and involved in the promotion of music education and nursing education at the University of North Alabama. They live in Mentone, Alabama, and have three adult children and two granddaughters.
