FLORENCE, Ala. – On Sunday June 17, the University of North Alabama Bands program once again welcomes Mr. Edsel Holden onto the Norton Stage to present “The Way We Were.”

And for the second year in a row, the concert will serve as a benefit for the UNA band program.

“We’ve been in and out with UNA Bands forever. The first time I performed with my grandson was with the UNA jazz band. We arguably have the best college band in the state. But they need help from time to time, so we decided to do this concert for them,” said Holden.

“The Way We Were” concert brings in talent from all over Alabama, including chart topper, Mark Narmore; Elvis extraordinaire, Mike Adams; and UNA’s very own head of music and clarinet virtuoso, Dr. Meghan Merciers.

Holden, a local Shoals legend and lifelong performer, will also be performing incredible classics such as “Georgia on my Mind,” “Stand by Me” and many more!

“They’re going to get a fabulous concert with great songs played by a great band and performed with great guests. I don’t know what else an audience could ask for than that. It’s going to be a great, great show, and I’m looking forward to it,” he said.

“The Way We Were” concert will take place in Norton Auditorium at 2:00 p.m., June 17, 2018.

Tickets are $15 and may be purchased at the Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts, the Tennessee Valley Art Center, and the UNA box office located in the lobby of the George S. Lindsey Theatre (Located on the corner of Irvine Avenue and Pine Street).

All proceeds will go to the UNA Bands program.

Military veterans are admitted free, but a ticket is required. Complimentary tickets may be picked up at the Kennedy-Douglass Center for the Arts.
