UNA Makes Top Tier in U.S. News Rankings

FLORENCE, Ala. – The University of North Alabama is included in the top tier of this year’s U.S. News & World Report rankings, released this week. The university placed 66th overall and 30th among public universities in the Regional Universities (South) Rankings category, which includes 118 schools.

“The progress UNA continues to make is well reflected in this impressive national ranking,” said Dr. William G. Cale Jr., UNA president. “By capturing a broad array of data, from academic success to alumni giving, the rankings give a balanced overview of comparative success among similar universities. UNA is proud to take its place in the top tier of southern regional universities.”

UNA is also ranked among the category’s top 10 schools for most international students, with a 6 percent international student population.

“UNA’s commitment to international programs is evidenced by our ranking among the top 10 universities in our peer group,” Cale said. “UNA is a destination campus for students from more than 40 foreign countries.”

To arrive at its rankings, U.S. News evaluates colleges and universities based on criteria such as graduation rate, academic reputation, freshman retention, faculty resources, student selectivity, financial resources and alumni giving rate.
