Documentation of Disabilities
Students who are seeking accommodations and services on the basis of a disability are required to submit documentation of their disability to Disability Support Services (DSS) as soon as they arrive on campus.
Disability Support Services:
- is responsible for determining the acceptability of documentation, and reserves the right to require additional information.
- maintains the right to reject documentation that does not verify a student's disability or justify the need for reasonable accommodations.
- may request a second professional opinion regarding documentation presented to verify disabilities.
- receives and solely holds all documentation of disabilities. Documentation is treated as confidential. Generally, no information is released to anyone without the student's informed and written consent.
Documentation accepted by DSS is valid as long as a student is continuously enrolled at UNA. However, if there is a break in the student's enrollment, updated documentation may be requested to receive services.
