Documentation of Disabilities
Students who are seeking accommodations and services on the basis of a disability are required to submit documentation of their disability to Disability Support Services as soon as they arrive on campus. Disability Support Services is responsible for determining the acceptability of documentation, and reserves the right to require additional information. Disability Support Services also maintains the right to reject documentation that does not verify a student's disability or justify the need for reasonable accommodations. Disability Support Services may request a second professional opinion regarding documentation presented to verify disabilities.
Documentation accepted by Disability Support Services is valid as long as a student is continuously enrolled at the UNA. However, if there is a break in the student's enrollment, s/he may need to present updated documentation to receive services through Disability Support Services.
All documentation of disabilities is received and held solely by Disability Support Services. Documentation is treated as confidential. Generally, no documentation information is released to anyone without the student's informed and written consent.
