Dean's Message

I am honored to be the Dean of the University of North Alabama's College of Education and Human Sciences, a College highly-regarded in preparing students in the fields of education, health, and wellness. Our faculty and staff are committed to providing rich experiences outside the classroom to develop the knowledge, skills, and dispositions our students need to make a positive impact in their community. The unique opportunities we have at UNA, including the Human Performance Lab in the Department of Kinesiology, the Kilby Laboratory School, and the Education Research and In-service Center, prepare our students to shine as leaders in their fields of study. Our UNA faculty and staff are committed to making a difference in the lives of our students, and we recognize that these opportunities are largely made possible thanks to the financial support of alumni. We are deeply grateful for your belief in your College.

Last year, utilizing private funds, we enhanced research capabilities in our newly renovated Human Performance Lab, expanded our equipment inventory, and provided funding for student and faculty research. This year, as we receive funding, we will put it to use to further expand the Human Performance Lab's research capabilities, as well as to support experiential learning for students, providing them with relevant hands-on experiences that build upon the foundation of what they learn in the classroom. It is our goal that every student, regardless of economic background, will be able to take advantage of experiential learning opportunities. Please know that your financial support plays a vital role in shaping the minds and experiences of future alumni. Every gift given will help us continue to provide learning opportunities that set us apart from other Universities. We thank you for considering giving a gift that makes such an impact on the lives of our students.

As restrictions begin to lift and more alumni are coming back to campus, I am thankful for the opportunity once again to interact face-to-face with you. I have always valued meaningful and personal connections, and the past year has only reinforced that belief. I encourage you to contact me any time at kckinney@una.edu. I look forward to hearing from you.
