Macke Mauldin is a 1982 graduate of Auburn University and has served as President of Bank Independent since 1996. He is a former member of the Board of Directors of the Federal Reserve Bank of Atlanta’s Birmingham Branch and is currently a Director for the Southern Development Council. He is a former Chairperson of the Shoals Chamber of Commerce and the Shoals Economic Development Authority. In 2008, he was named Shoals Citizen of the Year for his work in economic development.

Thanks to the generosity of the Mauldin Family and Bank Independent, six recipients of the Edward Fennel Mauldin Endowed Scholarships are awarded at UNA. The scholarships are in honor of Edward Fennel Mauldin, the bank’s late chair and father of current Bank Independent President, Macke Mauldin. Macke is a member of the UNA President’s Cabinet.
