Alumni Awards

 

Nominations for the 2023 Alumni Awards have closed and recipients will be announced this summer. If you have any questions please feel free to contact the Office of Alumni Relations at (256) 765-4201 or alumni1@una.edu.

The Lifetime Achievement Award recognizes one alumna or friend who has exceptional professional achievements, philanthropic efforts, and service to the University of North Alabama.

Recipients must have strong evidence of the following:

  • A lifetime of exceptional involvement and service to professional or philanthropic field.
  • A lifetime of significant leadership and/or scholarly productivity within professional or philanthropic field.
  • A lifetime of continued contribution to UNA monetarily or through service.

2023 Recipient
Carol Lyles Reeves '70

This award will be given to one alumni, who graduated at least ten years ago, who have utilized their degree and made great inroads and successes in their profession. They have made contributions to UNA.

Recipients must have strong evidence of the following:

  • Exceptional involvement and service to professional or philanthropic field.
  • Significant leadership and/or scholarly productivity within professional or philanthropic field.
  • Continued contribution to UNA monetarily or through service.

This award will be given to an alumni who has contributed greatly to the advancement of their community locally, regionally, and/or nationally through volunteer efforts or philanthropic endeavors that positively reflects on UNA.

This award will be given to one alumna that has excelled in a profession as educator at the elementary, secondary or college level either as a teacher, professor or administrator. They have excelled in that profession and received accolades and awards from their peers.

Andrea Porter '96

This award will be given to one UNA alumna who has been employed as full-time staff member by UNA for at least five years and has gone above and beyond the call of duty.

Recipients must have strong evidence of the following:

  • Strong participation in areas outside of their professional duties that benefit UNA.
  • Significant contribution to the advancement of UNA through or outside of their current position.

Jill Chambers '01

This award will be given to one UNA alumni who has been employed as full-time faculty member by UNA for at least five years and has gone above and beyond the call of duty.

Recipients must have strong evidence of the following:

  • Strong participation in areas outside of their professional duties that benefit UNA.
  • Strong service to the Student Body through advising, volunteerism, and excellence in academic instruction.

Amanda Hitt '04

This award will be given to a member of the UNA family who is not a graduate of the university, but has given time, talent, and/or resources for the benefit of UNA.

Macke Mauldin & Kimberly Mauldin ('94)

This award will be given to one alumni who serves our country through the military.  The UNA ROTC Lion Battalion remains visible and has a proud tradition of providing quality officers from North Alabama.  In addition to the UNA ROTC graduates who become future leaders of the U.S. Army, alumni who serve the armed forces in the Navy, Marine Corp, Air Force, Coast Guard and exploration of Space are considered for nomination.

CDR. Scott Milliet '10

This award will be given to one alumni who has contributed greatly to society within the realm of local, state, federal government, and/or nonprofit organizations.

Recipients must have strong evidence of the following:

  • Commitment to improving the lives of others.
  • Commitment to public service and performed activities resulting in significant accomplishments within their field.
  • The recipient may be an elected official, but selection is not limited therein. Selection will be based on performance not on political affiliation.

The Young Alumni award is awarded to an alumni who has graduated within the last ten years.

Recipients must have strong evidence of the following:

  • Outstanding achievement within professional or philanthropic field.
  • Personal growth in professional career, civic service, and/or cultural service in ways that positively reflect on UNA.

This award will be given each year to eight graduating seniors who have demonstrated great promise in their chosen fields, through academic performance, and who show great potential for future community and university service, through co-curricular involvement.
