Scot Butkis '87
Scot Butkis graduated from the University of North Alabama in 1987 with a Bachelor of Science degree in physics and mathematics. Scot was also a member of the UNA men’s tennis team from 1983-1987. Scot holds an Aerospace Executive Master of Business Administration from the University of Tennessee.
After graduation Scot moved to Huntsville, Alabama to start his career in the Aerospace and Defense industry with Teledyne Brown Engineering. After 35 years in the industry, he leads more than 1,000 employees of the KBR Government Solutions U.S. Defense Systems Engineering Business Unit, Missile Aviation and Ground Systems Division. His division provides full spectrum systems engineering, integration, and prototype solutions to U.S. government customers, including U.S. Army PEO Missiles and Space, Aviation and Ground Combat Systems, Missile Defense Agency and Foreign Military Sales customers. Scot is also responsible for business development, strategic planning including M&A activities.
He is a graduate of KBR’s select Global Leadership Development Program and was also a member of the KBR executive team developing requirements for the “Work Force of the Future” and “Reimagine How we Deliver” projects. Scot also supports KBR’s Employee Resource Groups (ERGs) which help shape company culture by bringing together people of different backgrounds who share similar interests and commonalities into a One KBR Team of Teams.
Scot, his wife Tina and daughter Stella Rae community involvement includes Free 2 Teach providing free resources to teachers in Madison County, and Merrimack Hall offering services to children and adults with special needs.
