For a fifth consecutive year, the University of North Alabama has ranked among the Best Regional Universities (South) category in the U.S. News & World Report annual list of college rankings. Further, UNA earned two new U.S. News & World Report distinctions this year, being named among the Most Innovative – Regional Universities (South) and for Undergraduate Teaching – Regional Universities (South).
The University of North Alabama will host the global premier of Making History Together, the documentary film that chronicles the integration of the institution. The story revolves around the activities of prominent alumnus Dr. Wendell Gunn, President E.B. Norton, famed civil rights attorney Fred Gray, and the University community as a whole.
The Theta Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. at the University of North Alabama, along with the Florence Alumni Chapter of the fraternity, are partnering to have “Game 7,” a charity basketball game benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The event is scheduled for Saturday from 4-6 p.m. at Sheffield High School in Sheffield.
On Sept. 12, at 7 p.m. in Norton Auditorium on the University of North Alabama campus, the Shoals Symphony Orchestra will welcome two of the most exciting artists working in the Shoals today: Billy Allen and Caleb Elliott.
Northwest Shoals Community College (NWSCC) and the University of North Alabama (UNA) signed an articulation agreement Thursday (9/3) to support education and training of students in Computer Information Systems Technology, Industrial Systems Technology, Salon and Spa Management and Welding.

Just more than two years ago, 18-year-old Jesse Christopher James passed away as a result of injuries he sustained in a motorcycle accident in Florence. The story of that time, and the months that have passed since, continue to be difficult for his family, and today, at the University of North Alabama, there is a beacon of hope as the ROAR Pantry was named in Jesse’s memory.
