Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Incorporated (AKA) was founded January 15th, 1908 on the campus of Howard University in Washington D.C. Alpha Kappa Alpha is the oldest Greek-lettered organization established by African-American college-educated women. AKA focuses on sisterhood, scholarship, leadership, and service, with programs centered on education, health, civic engagement, and global impact.
The Nu Omicron chapter of Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority was chartered on the University of North Alabama campus on December 7, 1980 by 14 pearls.
