Timeline: Choosing a Major
80% of college students change their major at least once but changing majors multiple times can delay graduation. UNA encourages students to declare a major within the first 45 hours of their college career. It’s important that you make a good decision as early as possible.
This timeline is a good guide for your first three semesters as an exploratory student at UNA.
Semester 1

- Enroll in FYE 101
- Review the UNA CATALOG to see the list of undergraduate degree programs and select your top 3 favorites.
- Explore resources such as “What can I do with my major...”to see what types of career opportunities are associated with your favorite majors.
- Meet with your exploratory advisor to discuss majors and plan for the next semester.
|
Semester 2

- Continue General Education courses.
