University Police investigating sexual assault
The University of North Alabama Police are investigating an alleged sexual assault reported to have occurred Wednesday at 12:30 a.m. in the campus parking deck. The report was made by the victim, a student, Wednesday afternoon. The case is being investigated by UNA Police.
UNA is making available to the victim a variety of services through the campus Care Team, Center for Counseling Services and Infirmary.
“Our absolute highest priority at this time is to care for this student in whatever ways needed, but the safety and security of the entire campus community is also imperative,” said Dr. William G. Cale Jr., UNA president.
The university is currently adding campus police patrols while increasing the visibility and use of its safety programs, such as SNAP (Student Nighttime Auxiliary Patrol), and encouraging the report of any suspicious activity to 911. The campus community has been made aware of the incident.
The university asks that anyone with information on this case contact the UNA Police at 256-765-HELP.
