TRIO SSS Summer Bridge Program
TRIO SSS Summer Bridge Program
Each summer, UNA’s TRIO SSS program offers a Summer Bridge Program to “bridge” the gap between high school and college. This hybrid program has both online and on campus components and is designed to introduce students to support services and resources available for UNA students. Participating students will learn important skills for studying, test taking and navigating college academics. Courses covered include financial literacy, math, English, writing, note taking and learning styles.
The Summer Bridge Program is free of charge for students and consists of two parts. Part I is a virtual program offered through online modules available in Canvas. Part II is a two-day on-campus workshop hosted in August. Topics covered in the Summer Bridge Program include:
- Navigating Canvas
- It’s Academic: Understanding College Expectations
- Find Your Learning Style
- Understanding Financial Aid
- Pass that Class: How to be Successful in College
- Roar Lions: Introducing UNA
- Finding Your Place: Getting Involved on Campus
- Fun team-building activities
- Get Lit: Building your English and Writing Skills
- It’s a Numbers Game: Building Your Math Skills
- Mental Health and Wellness
Why should you attend Summer Bridge? Besides getting a head start on your college career, you will:
- Build friendships with other students,
- Connect with faculty, staff and peers in a supportive learning environment,
- Enhance your knowledge of University resources,
- Learn how the TRIO SSS program can support you in meeting your educational goals, and
- Have fun!
