The following issues/policies are currently under review by Faculty Senate Committees:

• Leave of Absence statement
  At the September 3, 2015 Senate meeting, a motion was made and approved to ask the Faculty Affairs Committee to review this statement with respect to time counted toward tenure and promotion.

The following issues/policies were under review by Faculty Senate Committees this year but have now left Senate:

• Office Hours/Communications
  • At the December 3, 2015 meeting, the Senate voted to send this issue to the Faculty Affairs Committee. The committee was asked to bring a workable draft to the February meeting and to send tabulated comments received from faculty to the Senate by the January meeting.
  • At the January meeting, the Senate voted that whatever draft presented should not increase the number of office hours as stated in The Faculty Handbook. The Senate also voted at the January meeting that the committee excise all mention of a prescribed number of hours for responding to communications.
  • At the February meeting, the Senate voted to approve a draft policy, with several small amendments, presented by the committee. The policy will be forwarded to the Shared Governance Executive Committee for their consideration.
• Sick Leave
  • At the December 3, 2015 meeting, the Senate voted to send the issue of faculty sick leave to the Faculty Affairs Committee.The timeline for this issue is to be determined at the January meeting.
  • At the January meeting, the Senate voted to have a draft policy available at the March meeting.
  • At the February meeting, the Senate approved a draft policy proposed by the committee. The policy will be forwarded to the Shared Governance Executive Committee for their consideration.
