How to Request a Transcript

  • In Person - Complete a UNA transcript request form in the Office of the Registrar, Room 119, Bibb Graves Hall.
  • By Mail - (please use our transcript request form) or call (256)765-4448 for instructions.
  • By Fax - (256) 765-6014 (please use our transcript request form).
  • For an additional charge of $2.25, transcripts can be ordered via the Internet 24/7 through Transcripts on Demand.

    You can place as many orders as you like in one session using any major credit card. Your card will only be charged after your order has been completed. Order updates will be emailed to you. You can also track your order online using your email address and order number.

    Your signed consent may be required to fulfill your transcript order. For your convenience, a consent form will be generated for your order that you can return via fax, mail or can be scanned and uploaded through Transcripts on Demand.

    Note: if you choose to use Transcripts on Demand you do not have to request through the Registrar's office. Also, if you have requested a transcript through the Registrar's office you do not need to go through Transcripts on Demand.

General Information

All transcript requests require the student's signature. Transcripts can not be processed for any student with a financial and/or Admission Office hold. A letter of notification will be sent to the student stating the type of hold and instructions on how to release the hold. The transcript fee is $5.00 per transcript. If you are making payment with a credit card, the 3 digit CVV code is required. Remember: Federal law requires the student signature for each transcript request!


  • Do I have to request my transcript in person?
    You do not have to come to the Registrar’s Office to request a transcript. Transcript request forms can be downloaded from the Registrar’s web page. Just click here: "transcript request form"
  • Can my transcript be sent in PDF format?
    We now have the capability to send transcripts in PDF format. We utilize ESCRIP-SAFE which allows transcripts to be sent electronically to an e-mail address or any schools that are members of the ESCRIP-SAFE network.
  • Can attachments be sent electronically?
    Forms that you need attached to your transcript can be downloaded to be attached when your request is processed.
  • Can someone else pick up my transcript?
    Your transcript can be picked up by anyone you indicate on your signed request. We must have your signature allowing the university to release your transcript.
  • How do I pay for a transcript?
    Your transcript fee may be paid with a credit or debit card; however, we no longer accept American Express. If you are making payment with a credit card, the 3 digit CVV code is required. Fees may also be paid with a check made out to the University of North Alabama.
  • Is there a fee for transcripts?
    The transcript cost is $5.00 per copy, whether it is a request for an Official or Unofficial transcript.
  • What if I don’t know the exact year I attended UNA?
    You can request your transcript if you do not know the year you attended. Transcripts for students who attended UNA prior to 1994 are not available online. It will be necessary for you to provide any names used while attending the UNA.
  • What is the difference between an Official and Unofficial transcript?
    Official transcripts are printed on official paper with the University name and Official Seal. Official transcripts cannot be duplicated. Unofficial transcripts are printed on white paper and can be faxed and duplicated. Employers and Universities typically require an Official transcript.
  • Can I have transcripts sent to my home?
    Transcripts can be sent anywhere you designate on your transcript request; however, Official transcripts must remain sealed in order to be considered Official by the recipient.
  • Does UNA utilize ESCRIP-SAFE?
    The University of North Alabama is a receiving and sending member of the ESCRIP-SAFE network. Upon receipt of a transcript request, transcripts are sent electronically through ESCRIP-SAFE to network members and mailed to recipients that are not members.
  • Can I request a transcript over the phone?
    Your signed request must be received before a transcript request can be processed. You can scan and attach your signed request to an e-mail addressed to or fax your signed request to (256) 765-6014. Your request can also be mailed to Registrar’s Office, UNA Box 5044, Florence, AL 35632-0001.
  • How long will it take for my transcript to be received?
    If your transcript can be sent electronically, it will be sent and received within 24 to 48 hours, except at the end of the semester when there is a higher volume of requests. Transcripts sent by mail will be sent, via first class mail, within 24 to 48 hours, except at the end of the semester when there is a higher volume of requests.
  • What is Transcripts on Demand?
    We now utilize a service called “Transcripts on Demand” that allows you to place your orders via the Internet 24/7. For an additional charge of $2.25, you can track your order online, receive updates on your request via e-mail and your signed release will be held in their data base so that you do not have to provide a signed release each time you place a request.
  • What if I have a hold on my student account?
    You must clear any holds on your account before your request can be processed. You can clear the hold by calling the department that placed the hold on your account. Once the hold is cleared, please notify the Transcript Specialist at (256) 765-4832, to have your request processed.
