BCBS HEALTH & DENTAL - Our annual open enrollment period for health and dental insurance takes place during the month of February.  This period allows eligible employees to make applications for health and dental insurance coverage (or changes) for themselves and/or eligible dependents effective March 1, 2021.
*Payroll Deduction - We deduct family premiums one month in advance.  Therefore, the deadline for biweekly paid employees to enroll/change is January 29, 2021 and the deadline for monthly paid employees is February 22, 2021.*

BCBS Health/Dental Open Enrollment/Change Application - 2021
SUPPLEMENTAL BENEFIT COVERAGES - Our annual open enrollment period for supplemental benefits takes place during the month of February. All changes will be effective March 1, 2021. For those currently enrolled in any of the supplemental benefits listed below, your coverage will automatically renew with no required action on your part.  See below and the supplemental benefits page for details.

  • AFLAC - accident and hospital coverage
  • Allstate - cancer and intensive care coverage
  • Dearborn National - short-term disability
  • VSP - supplemental vision
  • Guardian - voluntary life insurance
The renewal date for group voluntary life insurance coverage with Guardian is March 1, 2021.  If you wish to maintain your current coverage level, there is nothing for you to do.  Your coverage will automatically renew.  For informational purposes: any employee who moved into a new age bracket will experience an increase in premium according to the rate chart on the supplemental benefits page.  In addition, if you currently have voluntary life insurance coverage on your spouse, the premium for your spouse's coverage will also increase base on YOUR age bracket, if applicable.
AIR EVAC
We offer a discounted group rate for eligible employees to secure a policy (membership) with the Air Evac Lifeteam, which provides emergency medical transport via air for serious illnesses and injuries.  During the month of February, any full-time, regular employee, not currently enrolled, is eligible to purchase a membership. Employees already enrolled in this coverage will be automatically renewed.  Please see the supplemental benefits page for details.

Blue Cross Blue Shield Insurance Updates

September 28, 2020: Creditable Drug Coverage Notice - Must be distributed to all individuals covered by the University Health Insurance through Blue Cross Blue Shield who are eligible for Medicare coverage.
