Una Student Ties For Preliminary Win On First Night Of Miss Alabama Pageant

FLORENCE, Ala. - University of North Alabama student Brandi Poss, of Tuscumbia, tied for winner of the Miss Alabama Pageant swimsuit competition tonight, the first night of pageant competition. She tied with Amber Dodson, who currently holds the title of Miss Trussville.

Poss, 23, is the current Miss Chelsea Area. She will compete tomorrow night in the eveningwear category and Friday night in the talent and on-stage question categories. For the talent competition, she will perform a vocal piece, "Amazing Grace." Her platform is Stop Child Abuse and Neglect. Poss is one of three UNA students in this week's Miss Alabama Pageant. Others are Colene Burns, of Hayden, and Laura Milligan, of Muscle Shoals. Burns is the current Miss North Jefferson County and former Miss UNA, and Milligan is the current Miss UNA. The winner of the Miss Alabama Pageant will go on to compete for the title of Miss America.
