UNA Homecoming Award Nominations Open, Date Set for Annual Event

FLORENCE, AL – Nominations for Homecoming Awards at the University of North Alabama, and the date for the annual event has been set for Oct. 23-24. It will be UNA’s first Homecoming in Bank Independent Stadium.

“Homecoming is such a special time at UNA,” said Barbie Terry, Associate Vice President for Alumni Relations and Annual Giving. “And, this year, it will be even more special as this year’s award winners will be the first to be celebrated in Bank Independent Stadium. We have such a wonderful group of alumni and friends who support UNA, and Homecoming is our opportunity to honor their lives and legacies.”

Nominations are open until Friday, May 8 and include Lifetime Achievement, Alumna or Alumnus of the Year, Friend of the University, and Young Alumna or Alumnus of the Year. In addition to being recognized on Bobby Wallace field as part of game-day event, the award recipients will also be recognized at the annual Alumni and Friends Homecoming Celebration, which is set for Friday, Oct. 23.

“This year is going to be special in so many ways, and it makes sense that we celebrate the winners of these premier Homecoming awards in a manner befitting their achievements,” Terry said. “They will have an opportunity to participate in events on campus as part of this unique and historic celebration.”

In addition to the Alumni and Friends Celebration, Homecoming will also include the annual parade through downtown Florence and the Lions’ matchup against the Governors of Austin Peay State University at 6 p.m. in Bank Independent Stadium. Nominations can be made at this link.
