FLORENCE, AL - University of North Alabama Assistant Professor in History Dr. Ansley Quiros has been presented with the Award for Excellence in Research Using the Holding of the Archive for her debut book, God with Us: Lived Theology and the Freedom Struggle in Americus, Georgia, 1942-1976. The award was granted by the Georgia Historical Records Advisory Council.

"I am honored and gratified by this generous award for God with Us," said Dr. Quiros. "I remain grateful for the important work of archivists and librarians who make historians' projects possible as well as to the men and women who shared their stories with me for this book. This book was written for those who struggled and continue to struggle for a more perfect union. The awards - all of them - really belong to them."

God with Us: Lived Theology and the Freedom Struggle in Americus, Georgia, 1942-1976 is an historical account that takes a deeper look into the South's history of racial inequality and how theology affected that struggle, set in Americus, Georgia. This is Dr. Quiros' first published book among multiple article publications.
