FLORENCE, AL – Fashion Merchandising and Design students at the University of North Alabama will have their annual UNA Designer Showcase tomorrow, Friday, April 17, at 6:30 p.m. at the Connie D. McKinney Center on Seminary Street.
“The students have worked incredibly hard to bring their ideas to life, and the UNA Designer Showcase provides a meaningful opportunity for them to showcase their work to the community in a professional and celebratory setting,” said Laura McKee, Assistant Chair of the Visual Arts and Design Department and a Senior Lecturer in Fashion Merchandising. “The amount of time, creativity, and dedication our fashion students have poured into their designs is truly impressive.”
The student-led fashion show highlights original designs created and produced by UNA fashion students and serves as a dynamic celebration of creativity, innovation, and interdisciplinary collaboration, bringing together multiple academic programs from across departments and campus.
In addition to the fashion show, students in the Jeff Eubanks Culinary Arts Management program will create and prepare hors d’oeuvres, while Hospitality and Events Management students coordinate guest services. Videography and photography will be provided by UNA students, and hair and makeup will be provided through a collaborative partnership with students in the Salon and Spa Program at Northwest Shoals Community College.
“Our event not only celebrates the achievements of our students, but it also reflects the power of collaboration across disciplines,” McKee said. “The community is welcomed and invited to attend and support the next generation of fashion professionals as they debut their work in a live runway setting.”
