Michelle Eubanks, UNA, at meubanks@una.edu, 256-606-2033 or 256-765-4392 FLORENCE, AL - The Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions, on the University of North Alabama campus, has achieved a 98.17 passage rate on the National Council Licensure Examination (NCLEX), ranking the college at No. 2 among all public institutions, including community colleges, in Alabama. "UNA's nursing students have a strong history of passing the NCLEX-RN, and this achievement affirms our mission in the Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions of graduating students who are well-prepared for their roles in the healthcare world," said Vicki Pierce, Dean of the ACONHP. "Our curriculum is rigorous and challenges our students in the practice of nursing through coursework as well as hands-on learning in healthcare settings." The NCLEX is a nationwide examination for the licensing of nurses in the United States, Canada and Australia. Students in the U.S. have been taking the test since 1982 as part of the completion of their bachelor's degree program. "This is great news, indeed, and is a testament to the quality of UNA's B.S.N program," said Dr. Ross Alexander, Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs. "Our nursing programs does exceptional work, and our graduates are more than prepared to meet the ongoing demands of the healthcare fields in which they work."
