Ninth in a Series In my time in España, I has a few academic and personal goals set for myself. I think coming into this trip, I underestimated the workload that I would be facing. One of my goals on this trip was to excel in terms of my conversational abilities, rather than my grammatical abilities.

Homecoming at the University of North Alabama is set for Sept. 29-30, with some new and returning events on the schedule that celebrate this year’s theme: Cheers to 50 Years!
Hispanic Heritage Month at the University of North Alabama is set to get underway Sept. 20, from 1-3 p.m. in front of Wesleyan Hall. “Latinos Driving Prosperity, Power, and Progress in America” is the theme for this year’s event, which is sponsored by the Department of Foreign Languages.
Dr. Wendell Gunn, a member of the University of North Alabama Board of Trustees, integrated the institution, which was then known as Florence State College, on Sept. 11, 1963. UNA will commemorate this historic moment with a photo ceremony that will take place at Cramer Way at the Harrison Entrance on the University campus at 10 a.m. Monday, Sept. 11.
My name is Will Cisco, and I am from Jackson, Tennessee. I expect to graduate from the University of North Alabama with my bachelor’s degree in 2025. I am majoring in computer science, and after this trip, I have decided that I want to minor in Spanish. I have always wanted to travel out of the country. This was the perfect opportunity to experience other cultures and learn something new.

We’ll Meet Again: A New American Musical will come to life at Norton Auditorium on the University of North Alabama campus Friday, Sept. 8. A patriotic, life-affirming story, We’ll Meet Again is inspired by the life of Henry Stern and his family’s remarkable odyssey and narrow escape from Nazi Germany, their immigration to America, and their integration and settlement in Alabama.

The Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions has received provisional accreditation approval from the Commission on Accreditation for Respiratory Care (CoARC) to begin enrolling students for Fall 2023. The Bachelor of Science in Respiratory Care, or the BSRC, is the first non-nursing clinical degree offered with the College.
Family members of University of North Alabama students have a new resource available this fall: the UNA Family Portal. The online portal is designed to offer resources and information to families that can be used to help their students succeed academically, grow personally, maintain their health and well-being, and, ultimately, graduate and feel prepared to enter the workforce.

Around 400 students will graduate as part of the University of North Alabama summer commencement ceremonies set for Saturday, Aug. 5 in Norton Auditorium. Dr. Jean Ann Helm Allen, the chair of the Department of Kinesiology at UNA, will provide the address for both ceremonies.
This year, the University of North Alabama celebrates 50 years of being UNA, its ninth and final name change. The visionary leadership of past presidents Dr. E.B. Norton and Dr. Robert Guillot set the stage for this year’s Homecoming, the theme of which is “Cheers to 50 Years.”
