FLORENCE, Ala. - Country Gospel Music Hall of Fame artist, comedian and "Hee Haw" favorite Lulu Roman will appear at this year's George Lindsey UNA Film Festival as part of a special tribute to festival founder George Lindsey. The festival is scheduled for March 3-5.

A friend of Lindsey's for many years, Roman is perhaps best known for her comic skits on "Hee Haw," where she was a regular cast member for most of the show's 23-year run. Since "Hee Haw," Roman has concentrated on her singing. She was inducted into the Country Gospel Music Hall of Fame in 1999. Her 16th album, "Inspired," was nominated for a Dove Award in 2002. She continues to tour, performing her gospel hits as well as inspiring audiences with stories from her own experiences, both painful and humorous. The George Lindsey UNA Film Festival is one of the few film festivals hosted by a university. The event was founded in 1998 in part by UNA alumnus and celebrated actor and entertainer George Lindsey. Lindsey's own film career has included several important roles, including the character Goober Pyle on "The Andy Griffith Show."
