FLORENCE, Ala.

The University of North Alabama's Alumni Association is coming together once again to host Lions Under the Lights, an exciting outdoor dinner event for the community, Sept. 9.

The meal will be prepared by Chef Johnson Ogun of the UNA Culinary department, UNA alumnus Jack White '78, food stylist for the "Hunger Games" films, along with Odette's Executive Chef Josh Quick and Chef Jeff Eubanks '96. Chefs Prema Monteiro, Einar Gudmundsson and Lewis Yuille will be helping as well. While Aaron Benson, UNA professor of art, is working with the ceramics department to create dishes for the event.

The professionals are not the only ones contributing their skills. Students of the Culinary and Art departments are lending their time and energy to ensure a positive experience for all guests.

"I especially enjoy helping our young culinarians learn and experience food and events that they may not otherwise get to participate in," said Quick. Ogun said he agrees, adding that he is most excited to showcase the alumni chefs and culinary arts students.

Guests will gather on the brick walkway adjacent to the Lion Habitat at 6 p.m. for social hour, with dinner following at 7 p.m.

"This is an opportunity for the ceramics department, culinarydepartment, UNA and the community to come together and celebrate the arts," said Benson. "Gathering around the table to break bread removes barriers of all kinds, and allows all to come and fellowship around a meal."

Tickets are $100 each, seating is limited!
