Mayor Irons To Participate In Read Across America Week At Kilby

FLORENCE, Ala. - Florence Mayor Bobby Irons will be among the locals reading to students at Kilby Laboratory School this week as part of Read Across America week, a celebration of the birthday of children's books author Dr. Seuss. Irons is slated to read to students Thursday morning at 8. The National Education Association's 13th annual Read Across America week encourages children to celebrate the value of reading and observe Dr. Seuss's birthday. Local author Ann H. Young will visit Kilby Friday to share her book "The Green Balloon," which is a short story about the journey of a green balloon that is set free on a winter day in December.
