FLORENCE, AL – The University of North Alabama has ranked among the Top Public Regional Universities in the South, according to the most recent list released by U.S. News & World Report. In addition to being in the Top 20 in that category, UNA has also placed among the Best Colleges for Veterans and Best Undergraduate Nursing programs.

“The University of North Alabama continues to excel as one of the region’s best institutions, and the U.S. News & World Report rankings are indicative of our excellent academic programs and student services,” said UNA President Dr. Ken Kitts. “There is no question that UNA has emerged as a top-choice university for learners of all ages.”

For 2023, UNA placed at Number 14 among all public regional universities in the South, which marks the University’s second consecutive year in the Top 20 for its classification. The University also placed 12th among Best Colleges for Veterans among its peers in the South.

“These rankings reflect UNA’s ongoing positive trajectory as an institution that is innovative and expansive,” said Dr. Katie Kinney, Interim Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs. “I am continually proud of the faculty at UNA and the high-quality education they provide our students.”

For the first time, UNA also made the U.S. News & World Report listing of the Best Undergraduate Nursing programs in the country. Leaders in the Anderson College of Nursing and Health Professions celebrated the announcement.

“In our fiftieth year of educating leaders in the health care industry, this is affirmation that the UNA brand of graduating the best and brightest among those in nursing and other health professions is becoming more widely held knowledge,” said Dr. Tera Kirkman, Dean of the College. “We are thrilled to appear in the rankings for the first time.”

The Sanders College of Business and Technology has also been recognized in the Online Programs Rankings by U.S. News & World Report as one of the “Best Online Master’s in Business Programs (Excluding MBA)” and as one of the “Best Online Bachelor’s in Business Programs.”

“We are honored to receive the distinction of being ranking among the Best Online Bachelor’s in Business Programs and Best Online Master’s in Business Programs in the nation by U.S. News & World Report,” said Dr. Greg Carnes, Sanders College Dean. “At the Sanders College of Business and Technology, we understand the unique needs and aspirations of our students, and we are dedicated to empowering them with the knowledge and skills they need to succeed in their careers.
