Una Vocal Student Places At Nats Regional Competition

Zach-CleghornFLORENCE, Ala. - Zach Cleghorn, a vocal music student at the University of North Alabama, recently won third place in the junior men's division of the South Eastern Regional Student Adjudications of NATS (National Association of Teachers of Singing), held at Stetson University in Deland, Fla. The competition included more than 350 students from colleges across the southeast.

Cleghorn is the first UNA student to compete at the regional level. He had previously won second place in the Alabama State Chapter of NATS during the Student Adjudications, held at the University of South Alabama in Mobile. Cleghorn is currently studying voice with Evan Jones, director of vocal studies for the UNA Department of Music and Theatre. A native of Arley, Cleghorn is a 2007 graduate of Meek High School. While at UNA, he has performed in "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat" and "From Broadway With Love" with the Zodiac Players. He also appeared in the role of The Vain Man in the UNA production of "The Little Prince." Cleghorn is a member of the Collegiate Singers, Chamber Choir, Vocal Jazz Ensemble, University Chorale and University Band.
