Dr. John Gulledge, an Assistant Professor of English at the University of North Alabama, has won the Rocket City Playwrights’ Series in Huntsville with his play, Troll Bridge.

The David and John Briggs Family Department of Entertainment Industry at the University of North Alabama has, once again, been named among Billboard’s 2026 Top Music Business Schools, continuing the department’s recognition by the influential music industry publication.

Dr. April Viverette, an Assistant Professor of Social Work at the University of North Alabama, is the Principal Investigator of a $90,000 research grant awarded by the Association of Social Work Board (ASWB) to examine the disparities associated with social work licensing examinations.

The Theta Upsilon Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. at the University of North Alabama, along with the Florence Alumni Chapter of the fraternity, are partnering to have “Game 7,” a charity basketball game benefitting St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital. The event is scheduled for Saturday from 4-6 p.m. at Sheffield High School in Sheffield.

Northwest Shoals Community College (NWSCC) and the University of North Alabama (UNA) signed an articulation agreement Thursday (9/3) to support education and training of students in Computer Information Systems Technology, Industrial Systems Technology, Salon and Spa Management and Welding.

Brooke Patterson, a junior at the University of North Alabama from Rogersville, recently completed her summer internship with the Alabama Space Grant Consortium, where she combined her interest in mathematics and education with an opportunity to support STEM education and NASA’s Artemis program. At UNA, Brooke is a double major in Secondary Education and Mathematics.

The Shine On, Gold Comprehensive Campaign to raise $100 million for the University of North Alabama has announced it has exceeded its goal and continues to fundraise until the official conclusion at the end of September. With six weeks remaining in the campaign, the goal has been met and exceed at $104,353,440 raised.

The University of North Alabama has announced this year’s Homecoming Award winners for this year’s celebration, the first to take place at Bank Independent Stadium scheduled for Oct. 23-24. The winners will be recognized at the Homecoming Celebration set to take place in the Victory Club Level of the Stadium.
