FLORENCE, AL – In a first-of-its-kind event, alumni and friends of the University of North Alabama are invited to return to campus and the Shoals for a special Alumni Celebration set to take place Friday, Sept. 23 as part of the weekend of Division I Homecoming events. The Alumni Celebration will begin at 6 p.m. at the Marriott Shoals Conference Center, with the Florence Convention and Visitors Bureau as the presenting sponsor.

“This event represents a unique and wonderful opportunity for alumni and friends of UNA to celebrate our alumni award winners as well as to gather with others in a casual and fun setting,” said Bishop Alexander, UNA’s Director of Alumni Relations. “We are very excited to have a new and larger venue and live music and to know that we are beginning our new path of Division I Athletics.”

The Alumni Celebration is a shift toward opportunities for the University’s growing alumni and friend base to share in Homecoming festivities that provide a unique and distinctly UNA-specific experience.

“It was our goal to create something that would appeal to people who graduated 50 years ago or five years ago and providing them with an opportunity to come together under one roof,” said Jim Page, a member of UNA’s Board of Trustees and a member of the Alumni Celebration planning committee. “We listened to what our alumni and friends were telling us what they wanted, and I believe this event reflects those comments. It’s going to be a very fun night!”

Tickets to the event, which are $18.30 as a nod to UNA’s founding year, will include heavy hors d’oeuvres, live music, a DJ, and other special opportunities. Log on to this link to purchase yours.
