Una Business Students Bring Home Top Awards From Phi Beta Lambda State Conference

FLORENCE, Ala. - The University of North Alabama's chapter of Phi Beta Lambda recently brought home several awards from PBL's Alabama state competition in Birmingham, with each of the 10 UNA students placing in the state's top three in at least one of their two events. Eight of the 10 competitors have now qualified to compete at the National Phi Beta Lambda Competitions in Nashville this July. Phi Beta Lambda is the collegiate equivalent of Future Business Leaders of America. About 140 students from across Alabama competed in the Phi Beta Lambda state competition in Birmingham. Winners from UNA included: Tang Bui, of Russellville - First place in Accounting Analysis and Decision Making Josh Butler, of Athens - Third place in Business Law Erika Franco, of Russellville - First place in Database Design and Applications, second place in Word Processing Patrick Hutchinson, of Muscle Shoals - Second place in Business Decision Making, third place in Client Services Melissa Love, of Toney - Second place in Database Design and Applications, second place in Computer Concepts Daniel McNutt, of Athens - First place in Computer Concepts Kelly Singleton, of Muscle Shoals - First place in Economic Analysis and Decision Making, second place in Business Decision Making team competition Alvin Wendt, of Tucson, Ariz. - First place in Financial Concepts, second place in Business Decision Making team competition Dana Woods, of Muscle Shoals - Third place in Human Resource Management Thomas Whitten, of Florence - First place in Future Business Executive, third place in Business Communication
